I gave myself a manicure with the Chinchilly and I was not terribly impressed. One of the things that I like about Essie is the intense pigment in each color; this pigment is not intense. It took three coats to get even coverage and the color looks, well, weak. It's very unobtrusive, but I was not pleased with how my cuticles look next to the color. There is no strong line between skin color and polish color. If I hold my nails up to the light I can still see the differentiation between nail and fingertip. The color in the bottle looks almost lilac, but there is little of that purple visible when it is on the finger. This is gray, and not a rich gray like the Recycle that Essie produces. It has a taupe or brown undertone. It goes on very thin and already the tips of my nails are visible from it rubbing off. I give it a three out of five. It is not a harsh, industrial gray, but a soft and wearable one. |
