Essie Nail Polish Bahama Mama 609

I received this color thinking it would look more like the picture and was pretty disappointed. It turns out that Bahama Mama is a really dark plum color. It's alright, nothing special though. I had gotten a manicure & pedicure with a bottle labeled "Bahama Mama" and it looked amazing - much lighter and had more pink in it. I wrote down the name and ordered it thinking it would look like the picture here. Upon receiving the bottle, I cringed as I held it up to my fingers, which still had the manicure color on them, and saw how completely different these two colors were. I was pretty annoyed so I went to Essie's site and checked out "Bahama Mama" [...]...doesn't look like the picture here. Two things: 1) I think the nail salon labeled the bottle wrong, but 2) I think this picture doesn't portray the correct color. That's just bad form. I think the closest color to my mani/pedi is Foot Loose:[...]. But I won't be ordering nail polish online from now on.

This is my favorite Essie color right now. It's more of a pinkish plum and looks great on toes. I also use it on my hands occasionally and I like how variable the color is. It reads red in darker places, hot pink in bright sunlight, and a sophisticated plum in medium light. I chose it while getting my nails done and liked it so much, I bought a bottle. I tend to only like true reds with blue undertones, magenta for toes, and maybe in the winter a really nice gloss black for toes. If you're someone who likes a lot of pinks and pinkish-reds and nudes (like my mother) you may not like this color.

I love essie nail polish and thought I would love this color but once you put more than one coat on it's just a very dark purple- definitely not a color that stands out.
